NYC Code Change Requires Annual Backflow Preventer (RPZ) Inspection
The Plumbing code for New York City has been overhauled for the first time in over forty years. Those changes went into effect July 1, 2008. Here is how they impact you: Each and every backflow preventer, also known as RPZ, installed in NYC is required to be inspected annually.
This means that New Yorker’s will now be better protected from dangerous bacteria, contaminants and other impurities in their drinking water. Backflow preventers on boilers, in medical and business offices, Laundromats and at A/C cooling towers now must be identified and maintained.
